In a study published in the Feb. 24 issue of the International Journal of Psychophysiology, researchers found that meditation may aid in the protection of college students against stress while also improving their ability to learn. The study evaluated the effects of transcendental meditation (TM) on collegiate volunteers.

"College Health Officials Hopeful About Birth Control Discounts." Medical News Today. March 21, 2009.

The fiscal year 2009 federal budget contains a provision for the reinstatement of discounting contraceptives via incentives for pharmaceutical companies. Schools will be required to negotiate the discount prices, if applicable, and the pharmaceutical companies are not required to honor the discounts.

In a study designed to chart the longitudinal impact of peer health education in the undergraduate setting on students regarding alcohol and drug usage, nutrition, and sexual health, researchers found that peer health educators do play a vital role in the promotion of healthy behavior in these and other areas.
